You need to use your mind, here. I mean, really use it. Really think rationally. Reflect. Hopefully you had pleasant experiences in your own past that you recall as such. You had enjoyable things with which to occupy yourself. Think about what made you happy.

Do not think about how going back to this is somehow “impractical” or “irrational.” Whatever will make you happy is the most practical and rational path a person could take. That is all you ever want: happiness. That is what the focus of life ought to be. We should not have to be thrust into this world, with no real regard for what we would have had to say on the matter, subjected to the stressors that are—for some reason—mandated by higher-ups and then forced to deal with it without complaint because it “builds character.” Goodness, no. Where is the logic in that? The only character that builds is a passive-aggressive and irritable antagonist. We have more than enough of those.
